1. How did you guys form and who chose the band name?
We formed in 2004 as a school band, ToXiCa is the only one left from the original band, now we are a quintet, I myself only helped out as the guitar player quit, as the band did not find a new one I stayed, the name was first DARK FIRE, we wanted to change it, but did not find anything better, also the name was already used, so we just added MASTERS OF.
2. You have had some line-up changes what made you do this?
We one day did sports and had to decide, others had to learn, that they were not good enough, it's true, we had a lot of line up changes and that was not easy for us, but now we are stable.
3. You have released many CD’s, but all in all how many songs have you recorded?
I am not quit sure, I think all together we have written about 20-30 songs, we copied new Demo CDs with new songs and let old ones out, so there was always a replacement, on our debut album there will be 13 songs.
4. ‘Boergerende’, ‘Dullahan’ what do they mean and why choose those titles?
Boergerende is the place a small town at the seaside here in Germany, we went there one day for a walk and saw on the beach a lot of stone-like heads, then we thought about it, what could have happened, and then we wrote a story about in older days people getting killed there at every full moon light, and their head becoming one of these stones. Dullahan is about the figure DULLUHAN from Ireland, he is a mystic man, he brings distortion, he is headless, he uses his head as a lamp, it an old Irish mystic figure. We read about this figure, we had heard the name before, but the whole story we found in a book about Irish mystic figures.
5. Who is the oldest and youngest in the band and who plays what?
ToXiCa is the very youngest, she plays Bass guitar and also sings, I am the oldest, Frost, I play guitar and keyboard, the vocalist Azrayl and drummer Tobey are about 20 years old, Raya is the backing vocalist and is also a bit elder. They started as a school band, but already played dark music, they started with cover songs from like THE RASMUS and LINKIN PARK, not all songs were dark or gothic, but some were.
6. You play Goth rock, who are your main influences?
There are a lot of influences; everyone in the band has their own influences, mainly Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, Ozzy, Sisters of Mercy, the German Bands ASP and The Cascades.
7. In relation to question 6, is the German Goth scene big?
Yes, I think the German Goth scene is big, but much declined, there are a lot of different styles like Goth guitar rock or EBM / Industrial, we have quite a few festivals like WGT (Wave Gotik Treffen) or Mera Luna and the Goths like to style up and wear their nice clothes.
8. What music awards have you the band and the band members got?
The band has been voted as best newcomer of 2008/2009 from the famous magazine SONIC SEDUCER, bands from the whole of Europe participated, from about 1500 bands we made it to # 1, this was a great help, the readers had to vote so they like our style, the year before we made rank 6. City of the damned was the song that brought us to # 1.
9. How did you guys choose your stage names?
At the beginning we used our real names, but as ToXiCa is very young, she used her stage name first to protect herself, by now everyone uses a stage name, to be protected but also because it is cooler in this sense.
10. What do your lyrics mainly cover, as in is there a constant them?
Constant themes we use are sadness, melancholy, darkness, death and sorrow.
11. Have you guys played in England? If no, would you play here?
No, we have not played in England yet, but we would love to come, for a place to sleep and some canisters of petrol, we will come; we love Britain, London, the English people and hope to come soon.
12. Finally, what can we expect from you this year?
We will promote our CD DEAD SPOTS, hopefully we will play a lot of gigs in Germany and Europe, we have just performed in Prague, and next year we will be in Helsinki. I hope that we have the opportunity the play at some of the big gothic festivals in Germany, and of course we will write new songs for album # 2.
